Revival Reflections…

It is hard to believe that a week ago this time we were in the middle of our Spring Revival meetings with Dr John Goetsch. How blessed we were by the Word of God through his skilled preaching. “Desiring the Power of God – 2 Kings 18,” “We are God’s Building – 1 Corinthians 3,” “A Proper Paradigm for Teaching,” “The fool, scorner, simple, and wise – from Proverbs,” “A new Creature – 2 Corinthians 5,” “Psalm 19″ All important and powerful messages that I know ministered to my heart as well as many of you. If you missed any, or want to re-listen, they should all be on our website soon.

Sunday’s Coming…

Another Lord’s Day with all of its opportunities is soon upon us and I want to encourage each one to be anticipating another great opportunity to serve the Lord, worship Him in spirit and in truth, and fellowship and strengthen each other. And I might add… come thirsty! God has just what we need in His Word and church time together is His plan to bring His water to our souls. Sunday Night we will have a mission presentation by Bro Jake & Anna Friesen – Missionaries to Mennonites in Mexico.

Men…

This is the last Sunday to get signed up (and hopefully pay) for Men’s Retreat (March 30-31). This is going to be a great time and I urge you to do all you can to take advantage of this opportunity for preaching and fellowship.

I also want to invite all men to make plans to join us for a Men’s Leadership Breakfast on Friday, April 6 (Good Friday) @ 9:00am. God has called men to lead in their homes, on the job, and in their church. We want to do all we can to help our men be the leaders God wants us to be. Don’t miss this special time of teaching and fellowship.

Again, we look forward to seeing everyone here @ GVBC this coming Sunday!

By His grace,

Pastor Gordon Conner

Moderation?

Dear friends,I was sent this by a pastor friend in the states – I thought it worth passing on to you. It is by Adrian Rogers a Baptist pastor, written some years ago.

~~~~~~~~~~
According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.
Philippians 1:20
May God help us today in the midst of our lukewarm apathy toward the things that matter most to Him! If it’s worth anything, it s worth everything.
May God forgive those who will not go the second mile.
Now, in some things moderation is good, like eating, rest, recreation, exercise, and finances. But when it comes to spiritual warfare, moderation is a sin. When it comes to believing the Bible, moderation is a sin. When it comes to loving the Lord, moderation is a sin!
Suppose a wife asked her husband, “Honey, do you love me?” And he said, “Well, moderately.” She’d fix his wagon, don t you think?
Friend, if the world considers you “moderate” when it comes to your Christianity, you are riding the fence of lukewarmness.
~~~~~~~~~~

Great thoughts for this first day back to work and school.

Sunday Update

Dear GVBC family,What a wonderful Lord’s Day we had! I want to thank Bro John-Marc Conner for his leadership in putting together our annual Christmas musical presentation – this year, “Christmas on the Air.” We rejoice in an attendance of over 250 for the program – over 100 more than our usual Sunday night crowd. Many, many guests and visitors – 60-70 and I know for some, the first time they have ever heard the truth of Christmas or the message of salvation. Let us continue to pray that God’s Word will find its way deep into their hearts.

Thanks to the choir and actors for all the hours of preparation and practice. We who were involved know that it was indeed “the Power of Christ” that brought us through this and made everything go so well.

Well, there are more special events ahead of us yet – some this week!

Ladies, don’t forget your Ladies’ Christmas Tea on Saturday, December 17th @ 5:30pm. Please don’t forget that you are meeting at the Killarney Community Centre. This is going to be a great time of fellowship and encouragement. Mrs Leslie Beliveau is your guest speaker for the evening.

Then this coming Sunday in our morning service our Sunday School children will present their program, “Christ Lights” – written by Bro Lawrence Mak. This is always a special time with our kids – don’t miss it.

Again, thanks to everyone who prayed and invited guest for our Christmas Musical – the Lord truly blessed and we give Him all the praise.

May the Lord bless you this week and make you a blessing to someone else.
